Benjamin Nye Homestead, 85 Old County Rd., East Sandwich.  Built by one of the first men to settle the Cape's first town.  508-888-2368

Dexter Grist Mill and Hoxie House, Main and Water Streets, Sandwich.  A fully-functioning 1654 mill, a few minutes' walk away from a restored late 1600s house. 508-888-1173.

Sandwich Glass Museum, 129 Main St., Sandwich.  Explore Sandwich town history as it relates to the once world-famous glass industry there.  508-888-0251.

Wing Fort House, 69 Spring Hill Rd., Sandwich.  Built in 1641, the seven-room house is furnished with period pieces.  508-888-1540.

Woods Hole Science Aquarium, Water Street, Woods Hole.  Free admission to this great small aquarium, with hands-on activities for kids.  Limited parking.  508-495-2001.

Woods Hole Theater Company, 68 Water Street, Woods Hole.  Year-round community theater productions.  508-540-6525.

Thornton Burgess Society and Jam Kitchen,  6 Discovery Hill Rd., East Sandwich. Dedicated to the conservation work of the author, naturalist and Sandwich native.  508-888-6870.

Sandwich Fish Hatchery, Main Street, Sandwich.  A great visit for kids; bring change and paper cups for the fish food vending machine.  508-888-0008.

Cape Cod Theatre Project, 7 Highfield Dr., Falmouth.  Staged readings of new American plays, with professional directors and actors.  508-457-4242.

Mashpee Wampanoag Museum , Route 130, Mashpee.  Ancient artifacts and heirlooms that tell the story of the great Wampanoag people.

Cape Cod Children's Museum  577 Great Neck Road South, Mashpee.  Hands-on exhibits, a puppet theater, a pirate ship and a planetarium!  (508)539-8788.

Cahoon Museum of American Art  4676 Falmouth Rd., Cotuit.  Enjoy the fanciful primitive paintings of the late Ralph and Martha Cahoon and others.  (508)428-7581.

Historic Highfield Hall  56 Highfield Dr., Falmouth.  A cultural center in a restored 1876 mansion.  Concerts, art exhibits, nature walks.   508-495-1878.

Barnstable Comedy Club, Main Street, Barnstable.  One of the oldest community theaters on Cape Cod.  508-362-6333.
