Summer Residents’
Bill of Rights
By virtue of
being a taxpayer and an active member in this
community,
I have the right to
receive all municipal services enjoyed by
year-round residents.
I have the right to
make my voice heard to my board of selectmen
or town council.
I have the right to
speak at town meeting, provided that two
year-round residents agree to sponsor me.
I have the right to
submit petition articles at town meeting.
I have the right to
attend all public meetings and view all
public documents.
I have the right to
challenge my town’s imposition of certain
higher fees for seasonal residents.
I have the right to
serve on certain town committees, or to
challenge rules that prohibit me from doing
so.
I have the right to
organize other nonresidents to advocate for
our common interests.
